Il s'agit d'apporter un soutien ponctuel (entre un et quatre entretiens) afin d'accompagner le patient face à une difficulté précise : perte d'emploi, séparation, deuil, choix important…
Il arrive parfois qu'un soutien initial se transforme en psychothérapie mais cela n'est pas systématique et dépend du patient.
